Become a business leader! Combine your interest in accounting and finance with the background to become a Chartered Accountant (CA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
In Accounting and Financial Management (AFM), you'll
- gain expertise in accounting and finance starting in first year
- graduate with 16 months of paid co-op work experience, and
- earn exemptions toward one of three professional designations: CA, CFA, and CMA.
In first and second year, you'll learn about the different areas of accounting and finance. In third year, you can choose one of 3 specializations to customize your program: Public Accounting, Management Accounting, or Finance.
Through co-op work terms, competitions, and conferences just for Waterloo AFM students, you'll get a head start on your career - and learn to solve real business problems and to do business in a global environment.
Waterloo's School of Accounting and Finance is the only university whose programs are professionally accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, which means your exempt from some CA requirements. As a Waterloo grad, you'll also be exempt from some of the CMA requirements.
