Waterloo's innovative co-op-only Computing and Financial Management (CFM) program will not only provide you with a unique degree, a Bachelor of Computing and Financial Management, but also with a unique interdisciplinary set of finance and computer science skills that will set you apart in the marketplace. Couple the expertise you'll gain from Waterloo's School of Accounting and Finance and School of Computer Science with 24 months of relevant and varied co-op experience, and you'll be armed with the know-how, the networks, and the experience to land a career in finance, computer science, or both.
You'll be a valuable asset to any technology-dependent organization, especially financial institutions such as banks, insurance companies, and investment companies because these institutions are in the information technology business. They need professionals who are as comfortable with the sophisticated concepts of modern financial management as they are capable of developing and maintaining the software tools required to implement these financial strategies. As compliance requirements increase, and new and varied financial instruments are introduced, the previously separated roles of IT and finance will merge. Individuals who can bridge the gulf between these two cultures will be in demand.
