Explore the science of human movement and learn to prevent and treat movement-related illness and injury. Waterloo is home to the world's first Department of Kinesiology and is Canada’s first non-medical school to house a School of Anatomy -- giving you the chance to study anatomy using human cadavers.
The hands-on experience doesn’t stop there; over 70% of Kinesiology courses include a lab component. You'll gain the skills necessary to understand movement problems that occur in sports, industry, rehabilitation, and fitness. You can also include courses to prepare you for professional health programs such as medicine and physiotherapy.
At the end of first year, you can choose to add specializations such as:
- Pre-Health Professions (a great choice if you're thinking of medical school!)
- Ergonomics (available only to students in co-op)
- Human Nutrition
- Neurobehavioural Assessment (available only to students in co-op)
You'll graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree and be qualified to be certified by the Ontario Kinesiology Association. Last year, 99% of grads went on to graduate and professional programs, careers, and other pursuits such as travel.
