Statistics is the science of extracting information from data. Its study rests on the mathematics of probability and includes determining patterns in data, constructing mathematical models to describe data, designing efficient procedures for collecting reliable data, and interpreting the results.
By designing experiments and surveys, exploring and analyzing data, and simulating complex systems, you'll gain the skills needed for extracting information. Experience in statistical computing, forecasting, mathematical modelling, and statistical process control will expand your marketability.
The methods you'll learn can be applied in biology, business, engineering, environmental science, finance, manufacturing, and the health sciences.
As a student in Canada's largest Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, you'll benefit from the wide variety of courses and our professors' research which enriches your classes.
You can also gain 20 months of paid work experience through our co-op program, the largest of its kind in the world, or fast track your degree by choosing the regular system of study.
