Class selection process

Whether you choose your classes yourself depends on your program. Check the table below for details.

If all or some of your classes are automatically selected for you, a place in those classes has been reserved for you.
In other first-year elective courses, some spaces are reserved for first-year students.
You'll use our schedule of classes website to find out the times for your courses.
You'll use our online enrollment system – Quest – to select your classes and/or check your schedule.

Faculty of Applied Health Sciences	Class selection process
Health Studies Recreation and Leisure Studies	Your required classes are selected and reserved for you. You select your elective class(es) online beginning July 9th. You’ll receive class-selection instructions in June.
Kinesiology	All of your classes are selected and reserved for you. You may also add CHEM 120 Lab (optional) online beginning July 9th. You'll receive course information in June.
Faculty of Arts	Class selection process
Arts and Business Honours Arts Social Development Studies	Depending on your program, you'll need to select some or all of your classes online beginning July 9th. Follow the instructions for your specific program in the Arts New Student Guide included in your offer package. You'll receive class-selection instructions in June. Course-selection tutorials are available in July. For more details, read the Faculty of Arts information for admitted students.
Accounting and Financial Management	All of your classes are selected and reserved for you. Check your schedule online beginning July 9th.
Global Business and Digital Arts	Some of your classes are selected and reserved for you; others you select online beginning July 9th. You'll receive class-selection instructions in June. For more details, read the Faculty of Arts information for admitted students.
Computing and Financial Management	Follow the class-selection process for programs in the Faculty of Mathematics.
Independent Studies	You'll plan your courses in consultation with your advisor www.is.uwaterloo.ca

You'll receive class-selection instructions in June.

Check your schedule online on Quest beginning July 9th.

You select other classes (electives) online beginning July 9th. You'll receive class-selection instructions in June.

Select/check your classes online using Quest

Bookmark www.quest.uwaterloo.ca. Quest is Waterloo's online enrollment and student information system.

If you'll be selecting any of your classes yourself, you'll receive class-selection instructions in June.
If you're transferring from a college or another university, you'll need to find out which transfer credits you've received before you select your classes.
- Review the transfer credit assessment information in the next step for applicants for details.
July 9-22, 2012 is the time reserved for first-year students to use Quest.
From July 23rd on, you may still select classes in what is called the Open Enrollment period.
- At this time, all Waterloo students will have access to Quest to select classes and make changes to their schedules.
