Note: Visit the next step for applicants website for information about how co-op works and preparing for co-op.
If you've been admitted to a co-op program, your first co-op work term will begin in either the winter or spring term of your first or second year.
Each program follows a slightly different study/work sequence, all of which are listed in the Undergraduate Calendar.
Note: Winter term = January to April; spring term = May to August.
If you've been admitted to a program in which co-op starts in your first year, you'll be in either stream 4 or stream 8:
If you'll be living in a Waterloo residence, your co-op stream will affect your residence options. Check the information on streaming on the Waterloo Residences website.
If your first co-op work term begins in your second year – January or May of 2014 – co-op streams are not applicable; however, you'll be considered stream 8 for residence purposes because you'll be living in residence from September to April of your first year.
