Athletics and Campus Recreation
- If you're interested in trying out for one of our men's and women's varsity sports teams, visit the Varsity website and fill out a new recruit form, or call ext. 35869.
- Get involved in one of the most extensive campus recreation programs in Canada. You can pick up a guidebook in your residence or at the Physical Activities Complex (PAC), Room 2039, during Orientation Week. Visit the Campus Recreation website or call ext. 37126 for more information.
Banking
- It's a good idea to plan your banking, including transferring money ahead of time to a local bank. There's a CIBC branch and several CIBC bank machines, right on campus – 519-884-4760.
Books
- Book Store - Visit the Book Store website to find out about your textbooks, store hours, refund policies, author events, the print-on-deman service, and book sale dates. You can also reach the Book Store by email at bookstore@lists.uwaterloo.ca or by phone at ext. 84673.
- Used Bookstore - Save money by buying your textbooks at Feds Used Books, located in the lower level of the Student Life Centre (SLC), or call ext. 32390. When you've finished your first term, you can sell back the ones you no longer need!
Computers
- You may need a computer for your work outside class. You're not required to bring your own computer – you'll have the use of computer lab facilities located in most buildings on campus. If, however, you'd prefer to buy your own computer, you may want to check out the computers at our CampusTechshop, located in the Student Life Centre, or call ext. 33518.
- For information about Waterloo computing services for students, visit the IST website.
- There is a strong possibility that you may have one or more courses that use Waterloo's Course Management System, called Waterloo LEARN, which is used as a complement to on-campus courses and for Extended Learning (Distance Education) courses. Typically, instructors use Waterloo LEARN for posting course syllabi, lecture notes, assignment drop boxes, discussion forums, quizzes and student marks.
Federation of Students
- Find out more about how you can get involved on campus through your student government by joining one of our 200+ clubs, volunteering with one our great services, or finding a part-time job with one of our on-campus businesses.
